“I am in better health than some of my peers who are not exercising regularly.”

Sheila has been a member of Jurassic CrossFit for almost six and a half years! She joined us about a year after we opened.

Sheila and Tate started at Jurassic CrossFit when they were looking for a consistent way to improve their health and wanted a fitness lifestyle with coaching and accountability in an engaging environment.

Sheila says, “When I first started, I was most intimidated by the weight lifting aspect of CrossFit. I was also afraid that I would not be able to keep up or even do the workouts. Overcoming it was easy because the coaches are thorough in their instructions of movements. They are always learning and working to find ways to help athletes improve, modify, and succeed at all levels.”

“Advice that would have helped me in the beginning,” says Sheila, “is trust the process, always make yourself a priority, and don’t be afraid to do things that seem scary. There’s a scale for everything and with consistency, you will be able to do things you never thought possible. Don’t be afraid to fail at attempting things. We all started at the beginning.”

The biggest change Sheila noticed in herself since starting is improvement in her mental health. “My mental health has improved as my physical health improves. An improved mental state leads to greater confidence and a healthier overall lifestyle.
Also, I have less problems with my psoriatic arthritis. When my muscles are strong, my joints have better support. My medicine works better.”

Sheila says CrossFit has made her life easier in many different ways. She goes to say, “I have improved mental health, it keeps me from having complications with my arthritis, it helps me keep up with my 8 year old son, and it supports an active retirement lifestyle. I am in better health than some of my peers who are not exercising regularly. I’m always learning something new and meeting new people. The atmosphere is supportive and it’s a community of normal people who are striving for a healthy lifestyle.”
